The 6’5” Morton is a 2020 guard that is listed as a four-star prospect and the 43rd best prospect in the nation according to Rivals. Morton is also listed as the seventh best guard per Rivals as well. Morton had offers from a laundry list of major schools including Butler, Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Purdue got in early with Morton and Matt Painter’s relentless pursuit of the top 50 prospect eventually won over the Pennsylvania native.
“My relationship...grew to be probably one of the best I’ve had,” Morton said. “There’s a trust and belief between both of us in what I can do as a player and person and what he can do as a coach and person to help me.”
Morton averaged 27.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 8. 1 assists and 2.6 steals per game last year at the high school level while shooting 57% from the field.
Purdue’s class for 2020 now has two commits with Morton joining three-star guard Jaden Ivey. With two guards committed for 2020 it’s now likely that Purdue will focus on a big next.
