The Ohio State Buckeyes were the first Big Ten school on the board with the 2021 class with the commitment of Kalen Etzler in mid-May.

Etzler is a 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward from Crestview, OH. 247Sports has him rated as a four-star prospect and 51st overall in the country. Rivals has Etzler as a unranked three-star prospect. Take a look at some of his highlights below.
The Buckeyes beat out schools like Bowling Green, Duquesne, and Miami (Ohio). Other Big Ten schools like Iowa and Purdue were also sniffing around, but did not offer at the time of his commitment.
As witnessed in the video, Etzler brings a “stretch-four” skill element to the Buckeyes. He can shoot it from three, take opponents off the dribble, and pass comfortably on the perimeter. Building strength will be a focus for Etzler, but there’s plenty of time for that.
Coach Holtmann and the Buckeyes are recruiting as well as any in the Big Ten. The addition of Etzler in the 2021 class only further solidifies this fact.
