Earlier today, the Penn State Nittany Lions got some significant news with regard to the team’s best player. Lamar Stevens announced that he would be entering the 2019 NBA Draft. Notably, under the new rules, Stevens can still return to school.

During his three years with the program on the court, Stevens has played in 104 games and averaged an impressive 16 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He also finished the season on quite a run, scoring double-digits in 14 straight games and helping to lead Penn State to a 7-3 record over the team’s final 10 regular season matchups.

Most likely, this is simply a move for Stevens to gather some opinions from NBA evaluators before opting to return to school. But should he leave, Penn State will suffer a substantial loss. Replacing Stevens won’t be easy. He was one of the Big Ten’s best players last season and could be primed for quite a run starting next fall.

There’s no telling what Stevens will do in the weeks to come, but BTPowerhouse will keep you posted as the NBA Draft draws nearer.
