On Monday, the Illinois Fighting Illini got some exciting news as 2019 prospect Bernard Kouma announced that he would be committing to the program. The exciting development came on the final day of the 2018-’19 college basketball season.

Kouma is listed as 6-foot-10 and 200 lbs by 247Sports and comes out of the Bronx in New York. Along with Illinois, he also has offers from programs including Dayton, Hofstra, and Valparaiso among others. He is unrated by 247Sports.
While Kouma has a limited scouting profile, he joins what is a growing 2019 recruiting class for the Illini. The program now has three commits in the class, including top 50 prospect Kofi Cockburn. And with so many players set to return for next season in Champaign, these players should have some time to transition into the lineup.
Underwood and his staff still have their work cut out for the 2019 class, but Illini fans have to be excited about bringing Kouma into the fold.
