Forward Trace Ramsey To Transfer From Maryland Terrapins

Maryland suffers a key roster loss.

According to multiple reports, Maryland freshman forward Trace Ramsey will be leaving the program and seeking a transfer in the immediate future. This comes after Ramsey largely spent last season glued to the bench for the Maryland Terrapins.

As a recruit, Ramsey was rated as a three-star prospect and part of one of the nation’s deepest and most talented 2018 recruiting classes. However, that didn’t hold up on the court as he only ended up seeing 10 minutes of playing time all season.

With played like Eric Ayala and Jalen Smith set to return next season, this probably won’t be a huge immediate loss for the Terps. Ramsey was likely going to spend most of his time glued to the bench once again. However, with the potential for players like Smith to leave Maryland after next season, it would have been nice to have an experienced player like Ramsey set to take over.

Ramsey’s departure will open up another scholarship for the Terps heading into next season. We will have to wait and see whether Mark Turgeon and his staff can find someone talented on the transfer market or a late 2019 prospect to fill the void.
