Game of the Night
#24 Maryland Terrapins 69, Minnesota Golden Gophers 60
In tonight’s only game the Terps finished the regular season with an easy win at home against Minnesota. While the final score made it seem like the game was closer, Maryland held a double digit lead throughout most of the night and Minnesota closed on a 13-2 run over the last 4:14 to make the game look more competitive than it actually was.
Anthony Cowan Jr. led the Terps in scoring with 21 points while Bruno Fernando and Jalen Smith both finished with double doubles. Maryland shot 41.9% from the field, out rebounded Minnesota and limited turnovers to take care of business. Amir Coffey led the Gophers with 23 points and Jordan Murphy had 14 points and 10 rebounds, but Minnesota couldn’t find much production from anyway else throughout the night.
The Terps are currently projected to be a five seed in the NCAA Tournament and could possibly climb up another spot if they have a good showing in the Big Ten Tournament.
As for Minnesota, their win earlier this week against Purdue likely punched their ticket unless they have a disastrous showing in the Big Ten Tournament. Even then the Gophers should likely end up in the NCAA Tournament.
