The AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls were released on Monday for week 19 of the season and five Big Ten teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. Only Michigan and Michigan State made the top 10, but three were within the top 15 in both polls and four were in the top 19 in the AP Poll. All told, it was an encouraging performance for the Big Ten.
Here is where the Big Ten landed:
Week 19 AP Poll:
- No. 6 - Michigan State
- No. 10 - Michigan
- No. 13 - Purdue
- No. 19 - Wisconsin
- No. 21 - Maryland
- Receiving Votes: N/A
Week 19 USA Today Coaches’ Poll
- No. 7 - Michigan State
- No. 11 - Michigan
- No. 12 - Purdue
- No. 19 - Wisconsin
- No. 21 - Maryland
- Receiving Votes: N/A
While this set of rankings doesn’t match up to some of the earlier weeks of the season, it’s still quite an impressive performance for the league. Five teams were in the top 25 and three of them were inside the top 12 in the Coaches’ Poll. That’s a huge step for the Big Ten and could mean big things for the NCAA Tournament.
This brings back memories of those loaded years for the Big Ten in 2013 and 2014. And right now, it looks like fans could be in for another huge season for the conference.
Either way, BTPowerhouse will continue to keep fans posted moving forward.
