The Big Ten has two games on Wednesday night and both come with their fair share of NCAA Tournament implications. Maryland will go on the road to face Nebraska and Minnesota will host Wisconsin. Expect two battles.
Let’s take a look at today’s Big Ten action.
Game of the Day:
-Maryland Terrapins at Nebraska Cornhuskers
- Time/TV: 7:00PM (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Nebraska (-3)
It’s been an up and down swing for the Terps so far in 2019. After reeling off seven straight wins, Maryland has now lost three of its last four and fallen out of the Big Ten title race. And the team now heads into Lincoln desperate to gets things back on track.
And on the other side, the story is largely the same. Nebraska got out to a tremendous start to the season, but has faded in recent weeks. The Huskers are now just 13-9 overall and desperately need to turn things around or risk missing the postseason. And Wednesday marks one of the last times that Nebraska will get a marquee opponent at home.
This matchup is largely going to come down to who plays better in the backcourt. Can Thomas Allen and Glynn Watson slow down Anthony Cowan? It should be an interesting matchup and one that could determine both teams’ postseason hopes.

The Rest:
-Wisconsin Badgers at Minnesota Golden Gophers
- Time/TV: 9:00PM (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Wisconsin (-4)
Heading into most games, fans have a general idea of what’s going to happen. Often, one team is favored over another and it simply comes down to whether the “better” team performs up to its standards. If so, they usually come out on top.
But Wednesday’s matchup between Minnesota and Wisconsin is hard to read. The Badgers project as the better team, but lost to the Gophers just a few weeks ago. And Minnesota has shown some major fight in the last few games. The Gophers are 3-2 over the team’s last five games, but the losses came on the road against Michigan and Purdue in dramatic fashion. Minnesota is legitimately a few plays away from being 4-1 or 5-0 in that stretch. And if the Gophers had pulled that off, they would likely be favored here.
This leaves us with a clouded picture heading into Wednesday night. The Badgers are going to come out fired up to get revenge and Minnesota will look to score another marquee win, considering that it’s still sitting on the bubble. The matchup will come down to how Jordan Murphy and Daniel Oturu play against Ethan Happ down low.
- Pick Against the Spread: Wisconsin
