Very recently, the Minnesota Golden Gophers got some exciting news as 2021 prospect Treyton Thompson announced that he would be committing to the program. This was huge news as Richard Pitino and his staff are trying to load the roster with talent going forward.

Thompson is listed as 6-foot-11 and 190 pounds by 247Sports and comes out of La Porte, Indiana. He is rated as a four-star prospect by the recruiting site and as the fifth-best player in the state. Along with Minnesota, he also had serious attention from programs including Iowa, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin among others.
Although Thompson is Minnesota’s first commitment in the 2021 recruiting cycle, the class currently ranks seventh nationally. Pitino and fans are hoping to turn some heads in the 2021 cycle and beyond.
Pitino and his staff still have their work cut out for the 2021 class, but Gopher fans have to be excited about bringing Thompson into the fold.
