Game of the Night
- Time/TV: 7:00 PM ET (FS1)
In what could have been a more entertaining match, Maryland is set to travel to Jersey and face Seton Hall. The Pirates were ranked coming into last week until getting blasted on the road by Rutgers. Even more problematic, guard Myles Powell suffered a concussion and is set to miss tonight’s game. That’s a major issue as Powell averages 21.2 points per game, almost more than double (10.9) the next highest scorer.
Maryland is coming off of a surprising loss at Penn State in a game that saw that Terrapins shoot 33.3% from the field and commit 20 turnovers. Shooting has been an issue this year for Maryland, with the team ranking 237th in field goal percentage and 272nd in three point percentage. The Terrapins have a solid defense and plenty of weapons, but they’ve struggled to consistently shoot the rock. Luckily for the Terps they’re 13th in the nation in offensive rebounds (Jalen Smith averages 3.9 per game on his own) to help get additional shots up on offense.
Seton Hall has a solid team and will be at home, but without Powell it’s hard to see them capable of knocking off Maryland. While Maryland needs to get their offense running more efficiently, they’ll be looking to bounce back from an ugly loss to Penn State and Seton Hall will provide them the opportunity to add a quality win and get things back up and running.
