On Friday, Rutgers got some good news as 2020 prospect Oskar Palmquist opted to commit to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights over numerous other programs. It was exciting news for Steve Pikiell and his staff as the program continues to build momentum.
Beyond excited to announce that I am committing to Rutgers University! First off, I want to thank my family for always believing in me. I also want to thank all my coaches and teammates who’s helped me getting to where I am today. RUTGERS NATION LET’S GO TO WORK! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/oSDJxu9eF0

Palmquist is listed as 6-foot-8 and comes out of Sweden, but is playing at Central Point Christian High School in Florida. Along with Rutgers, he had an offer from Western Kentucky and attention from schools including Florida, Iowa, and Kansas State among others. He is currently unrated by 247Sports.
Since Pikiell’s arrival, Rutgers has primarily been a defensive led team. Palmquist should have the potential to improve things on the offensive end, as he is widely regarded as a decent shooting prospect. Of course, we will have to see how he develops in the coming years.
Palmquist is the second member of Rutgers’ 2020 recruiting class, joining three-star forward Dean Reiber in the class. While the class is not particularly well regarded at this time, we will have to see how things close in the coming months.
There’s still a lot to do for Pikiell and the Scarlet Knights to find some success, but Palmquist should continue that move forward in the coming years.
