The 6’8” forward from Michigan is a four-star prospect and is ranked by 247Sports Composite rankings as the 20th best power forward and 94th best prospect in the 2019 recruiting class. He’s the first commit for Richard Pitino’s squad in 2019 and also held offers from a number of programs including Oklahoma, Missouri and Seton Hall.
Jackson had visited the program this week and felt good enough to commit to the Gophers shortly after.
“Really I’ve been on plenty of visits and enough to know what I like, I just got a really good vibe from the coaching staff and the players,” Jackson mentioned. “It was just how welcoming they were. They didn’t pressure me or bash any other colleges and never mentioned any other colleges.”
At 6’8” Jackson has the versatility to play the three or four when he arrives on campus, though he could be set to join the starting lineup early on as Minnesota will need to replace Jordan Murphy in 2019. This past AAU season he averaged 13.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while hitting on 38 percent of his three point attempts.
