The Purdue Boilermakers had an extremely busy weekend in the recruiting world these past few days, handing out five scholarship offers over the weekend to potential future Boilers.

Jaden Ivey is a 6’2”, 165 pound shooting guard from Marian High School in the class of 2020. 247Sports has Ivey listed as the 5th best player in the state of Indiana in 2020 and the 38th ranked shooting guard nationally. Last season, as a sophomore, Ivey averaged 12.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. His mother, Niele Ivey, is an associate head coach for the National Champions Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the women side.

Purdue also extended an offer over the weekend during a visit with 2021 point guard Khristian Lander. Coming out of Evansville, Indiana, Lander is quickly garnering more and more attention nationally. He has also visited Louisville, and has an upcoming visit scheduled with Indiana as well. While it’s hard to project guys that are this young into the future, he enters the season as one of the top ranked players in the country in his class.

Chet Holmgren may be the most intriguing of all of the players offered by the Boilers over the weekend. In the class of 2021, Holmgren already stands at 6’11”. The Minneapolis big man was given a tour of the campus and athletic facilities on Saturday and was offered a scholarship at the end of his visit. Purdue has a reputation around the country for the ability to develop the big men that they bring in, and Holmgren could certainly develop a great skill set and follow a long line of great big guys to put on the black and gold.

Cam’Ron Fletcher is another top tier player that received a scholarship offer from Purdue over the weekend. At 6’6”, 180 pounds, Fletcher has great length that allows him to take on multiple positions defensively and also the skill to score the ball on the other end. He is currently the 42nd ranked player in the class of 2020 out of St. Louis, Missouri. He has been getting attention from high major schools for quite some time now, and already has offers from Creighton, Missouri, Kansas State and Illinois along with Purdue.

Finally, the Boilermakers offered another 2020 player from St. Louis, Caleb Love. Where Fletcher is the 2nd ranked player in Missouri in his class, Love is the top ranked player. He is the 36th ranked player nationally in the class out of Christian Brothers High School. As one could guess, he also has a lot of major interest from high major schools, such as Missouri, Xavier, Illinois and Kansas State.

Purdue and Matt Painter have begun building for the future of their program, and if they could manage to get a commitment from even just a couple of these players, it would put them in a good position moving forward.
