The three-star guard chose Rutgers over a number of major programs, including Northwestern, Seton Hall and Xavier. Mulcahy is a pass first point guard that has a good chance to run the offense in the near future for the Scarlet Knights. The 6’5” recruit is ranked by 247Sports Composite rankings as the 7th best prospect from New Jersey and the 167th best recruit overall for 2019.
“A lot of stuff went into it. I had a lot of good opportunities...Rutgers has recruited me the longest and the hardest,” Mulcahy told Scarlet Nation. “The relationship I have with the coaching staff is better than everywhere else. I think it is a real cool opportunity.”
Mulcahy averaged 17.8 points and 7.2 assists per game this past season at Gill St. Bernard and is the first commit for Steve Pikiell’s 2019 recruiting class.
