2018 Big Ten Tournament Preview: #14 Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs #6 Indiana Hoosiers

After an upset over Minnesota last night, can the Scarlet Knights pull of another against the Hoosiers?

NCAA Basketball: Big Ten Conference Tournament-Minnesota vs Rutgers Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

After a surprising upset from No. 14 seed Rutgers last night, the Scarlet Knights will now play in the second round against Archie Miller’s No. 6 Indiana Hoosiers. Neither team will make the NCAA tournament without a Big Ten championship, so its win or go home for both teams now.

You can preview the game below.

Rutgers and Indiana have only faced off once this year, with Indiana taking it to Rutgers in a 65-43 fashion. That is what has kept Rutgers from succeeding at times this year, their inefficiency on the offensive side of the ball. The Scarlet Knights play great defense, in fact, they hold one of the top 25 defenses in the nation.

For production on the offensive side of the ball, Rutgers will need Corey Sanders to produce like he did last night. Sanders scored 23 points while the rest of the team struggled to get any rhythm. That has seemed to be the case this year, Sanders and Gio Baker go to work on the offensive side of the ball, while the rest focus on defense.

If this were both teams first time playing in the tournament, Rutgers could have a chance, but I just don’t see Rutgers being able to pull it off two days in a row.
