On a slow night of college basketball, only one Big Ten hoops matchup took place. Both coming off tough losses on Saturday (Indiana vs. Michigan State, Rutgers vs Purdue), the Hoosiers and Scarlet Knights matched up to get back in the winning column. However, it was Indiana who came out on top in a landslide.

Let’s take a look at the only Big Ten basketball game from Monday night.

Game Of The Night:

-Indiana Hoosiers 65, Rutgers Scarlet Knights 43

After a strong performance against Purdue on Saturday, Rutgers played completely flat Monday night against Indiana and fell by 22 points. With the win, Indiana snapped a four-game losing streak and moved beyond .500 on the year at 13-12.

Behind massive performances from Juwan Morgan and Robert Johnson, it was never in doubt that Indiana would win Monday night. Morgan finished with a team high 24 points and eight rebounds while Johnson added 19 points.

Indiana quickly jumped out to an 11-2 lead as Rutgers did not reach double digits until there were six minutes remaining in the half. The Hoosiers took a 26-16 lead into the break.

Out of the break, Indiana went on an 8-2 run to lead 34-18 with 15 minutes remaining. With 12 minutes remaining, the Hoosiers took their first 20 point lead and led by as many as 24 points.

Rutgers was led by Deshawn Freeman who scored a team high 13 points. The Scarlet Knights’ only other scorer in double figures was Geo Baker who added in 10 points.

With the win, Indiana improved 6-7 in conference play. Rutgers fell to 12-14 on the year and 2-11 in conference play.
