The Big Ten will continues its lead up into Christmas with two games on Wednesday night. Indiana will return home after beating Butler and Penn State will go on the road looking for some redemption after a rough start to the season.
Let’s take a look at today’s Big Ten action.
Game of the Day:
-Penn State Nittany Lions at Duquesne Dukes
- Time/TV: 7:00PM ET (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Penn State (-6)
After a sporadic first six games of the season, Penn State has regressed over the last few weeks. The Nittany Lions are 1-3 over the last four games with the only win coming against an underwhelming Colgate squad. Penn State now sits at 5-5 overall.
And on Wednesday, Penn State will look to get back on track on the road against Duquesne. While the Dukes aren’t an outstanding team, it is more than capable of beating Penn State. In fact, Duquesne is 8-2 on the year with the only two losses coming against Notre Dame and Pittsburgh away from home. This is going to be a challenge for Penn State.
The matchup of the game is going to be Penn State’s backcourt against a Duquesne defense that pressures opponents. The Dukes are 12th nationally in defensive turnover rate and will make Rasir Bolton and Myles Dread work for every possession. How those guards perform will likely determine this one.
For Penn State, this game needs to be a loss. After winning the NIT, fans were hoping for a major step forward this season. However, things haven’t been encouraging so far. It would be hard to imagine Penn State making the NCAAs at season’s end without a win on Wednesday night.
- Pick Against the Spread: Duquesne
The Rest:
-Central Arkansas Bears at Indiana Hoosiers
- Time/TV: 5:00PM ET (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Indiana (-22)
After beating Butler in a classic game on Saturday, Indiana will return home for a manageable game against Central Arkansas. The spread is more than 20 points and the Bears are just 4-6 on the season. This should be a good opportunity for Indiana to unload its bench and see how the team’s depth is progressing.
- Pick Against the Spread: Indiana
