Indiana and Maryland Split Week Six Big Ten Honors

See who won the Big Ten’s weekly awards.

NCAA Basketball: Indiana at Penn State Matthew O’Haren-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten released its weekly award winners for week six of the regular season and two teams ended up splitting the awards. Indiana’s Juwan Morgan was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Maryland’s Jalen Smithw as named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Morgan entered this season with plenty of hype after deciding to stick around campus for another year. In route to his award this week, Morgan scored 35 points as Indiana beat Butler in the Crossroads Classic. This is the second time he’s won the award and the first time since December of 2017.

Similarly, Smith had a big week as well, finishing with 20 points and eight rebounds in the team’s win over Loyola (MD). This is the second time he’s won the award so far this season. It’s hard not to be excited about where he could be heading this season.
