After a hectic rivalry Saturday in college football, the Big Ten will be in action on the hardwood with two teams playing. Neither game looks particularly noteworthy, but Northwestern will play an intriguing Utah team.
Let’s take a look at today’s Big Ten action.
Game of the Day:
-Northwestern Wildcats vs. Utah Utes
- Time/TV: 2:00PM ET (ESPNU)
- KenPom Spread: Northwestern (-2)
After splitting games against Fresno State and La Salle earlier this week, Northwestern will face off against Utah to close off its play in Fullerton. This will be the team’s second game against a top 100 opponent this season, after losing to Fresno State.
Utah enters the game at 3-2 after beating Grand Canyon on Friday. The Utes are an offensive-driven team that relies on the guard play of Sedrick Barefield. He is an outstanding passer at the point and should be able to initiate Utah’s offense pretty consistently against the Wildcats.
For Northwestern, this is an opportunity to make up for the loss for Fresno State. A win would push the Wildcats to 5-1 overall with a home game against Georgia Tech coming on Wednesday. A loss, however, would put the team in a hole heading into the opening weekend of Big Ten play.
- Pick Against the Spread: Utah
The Rest:
-Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at Illinois Fighting Illini
- Time/TV: 2:00PM ET (BTN+)
- KenPom Spread: Illinois (-24)
After a disappointing 0-3 trip to Maui, Illinois will return home for a filler game against Mississippi Valley State before the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. And that should be welcome news for fans. The Delta Devils are 347th nationally on KenPom and should provide little resistance for Illinois. Expect a comfortable win.
- Pick Against the Spread: Illinois
