11/17 Big Ten Preview: Michigan and Wisconsin Return To Action

Preview the Big Ten’s action for Saturday.

NCAA Basketball: Michigan at Villanova Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

After a huge week highlighted by the 2018 edition of the Gavitt Games, the Big Ten returns to action on Saturday. Both Michigan and Wisconsin will tip-off as substantial favorites, looking to build on quality road wins earlier this week.

Let’s take a look at the day’s games.

Game of the Day

-Michigan Wolverines vs George Washington Colonials

  • Time/TV: 12:00PM ET (ESPN+)
  • KenPom Spread: Michigan (-17)

This probably isn’t what one might typically envision as a Game of the Day selection, but here we are heading into Saturday. This is the best game for the Big Ten, on paper, for Saturday and features a Michigan team hoping to build off its huge win over Villanova earlier this week.

Saturday’s matchup between the Wolverines and INSERT will be Michigan’s opener in the Hall of Fame Classic and will take place in Connecticut. While the spread is very much in Michigan’s favor, don’t underestimate these neutral site games and the potential of the Wolverines to be in a hangover after the team’s Villanova win. This could very much be a letdown type of game.

George Washington enters the matchup at 0-3 with home losses to Stony Brook and Siena. The Colonials are 215th on KenPom and are one of the youngest players in college basketball. The players to watch will be Terry Nolan in the backcourt and Arnold Toro upfront. Nolan is a great outside shooter and Toro is a solid shot blocker.

  • Pick Against the Spread: George Washington

The Rest:

-Houston Baptist Huskies at Wisconsin Badgers

  • Time/TV: 8:00PM ET (BTN)
  • KenPom Spread: Wisconsin (-16)

Wisconsin is also coming off a big win this week, as the team went on the road and knocked off Xavier in the Gavitt Games. The team will now return home and will face Houston Baptist in a filler game before heading to the Bahamas.

The one thing to watch in this game will be how Houston Baptist defends Ethan Happ in the post. He has been unguardable so far this year, but the Huskies are actually a pretty good defensive team in the paint. Can they slow down Happ? We will see.

  • Pick Against the Spread: Wisconsin
