Big Ten To Have Active ‘Secret’ Scrimmage Season

Earlier this month, Jeff Goodman of Stadium posted a list of the nation’s ‘secret’ scrimmages this season and the Big Ten was well represented. There are more than a few matchups that would turn heads, if it was played nationally.

Here is a full list of the matchups:

• 10/20 - Maryland at George Mason
• 10/20 - Minnesota at Creighton
• 10/20 - Rutgers at Towson
• 10/21 - Nebraska at Iowa State
• 10/27 - Michigan at Toledo
• 10/27 - Vanderbilt at Illinois
• 10/27 - Michigan State vs Gonzaga (Minneapolis, MN)
• 10/27 - Xavier at Ohio State
• 10/27 - Penn State vs Temple (Harrisburg, PA)
• 10/27 - Purdue vs. West Virginia (Columbus, OH)
• 10/27 - Yale at Rutgers
• 10/28 - Indiana vs. Loyola Chicago (Indianapolis, IN)
• 10/28 - Iowa vs. Missouri (Quincy University, IL)
• 10/28 - Marquette at Northwestern
• 10/28 - Wisconsin vs. Iowa State (Platteville, WI)
• 11/3 - Penn State at West Virginia

By any stretch, that’s quite a list of matchups. While Michigan State vs Gonzaga is the marquee matchups, there are a plethora of other intriguing ones as well. Multiple teams will be facing off against West Virginia, Northwestern gets Marquette, and Iowa gets Missouri. There’s a lot to like here.

Results of the scrimmages may or may not reach the media, but fans will have to stay tuned to see whether we learn anything about these games. Given how big some of these matchups are, there could be a lot to takeaway if we find out results.
