After a fantastic night of action on Monday, fans will get to enjoy three more entertaining games on Tuesday. Indiana will travel to Columbus, Iowa and Minnesota will tangle, and Illinois and Rutgers will face off.
Let’s take a look at the day’s games.
Game of the Day
- Time/TV: 7:00PM ET (ESPN2)
- KenPom Spread: Ohio State (-13)
Let me be blunt. This game probably wouldn’t be selected as “Game of the Day” for most other days. However, with two underwhelming matchups elsewhere, this one wins the competition for that spot by default.
It’s just how things work sometimes.
However, don’t be completely disappointed. This is still a matchup with Big Ten title and NCAA Tournament implications and an opportunity for Indiana to capitalize on an Ohio State team that’s reeling. The Buckeyes lost the team’s last game at home to Penn State and will hope to turn the page.
The matchup that will be most exciting to watch will be upfront. Indiana’s Juwan Morgan has been on a role and Ohio State’s Keita Bates-Diop has played like the Big Ten Player of the Year. These two won’t face off on every possession, but seeing how these two try to top one another should be fun.
- Pick Against the Spread: Indiana
- Time/TV: 7:00PM ET (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Illinois (-5)
While this game isn’t going to attract much attention nationally, it is one that could be rather important for Big Ten Tournament seeding. Both of these teams have struggled so far and will be desperate to add another league win before February. In particular, Illinois will be hoping to get its second Big Ten win after beating Indiana last week.
The most exciting matchup in this one should be in the backcourt where Trent Frazier will matchup with Corey Sanders. The two guards lead their respective teams and how they play will tell a lot about who comes out on top at night’s end.
- Pick Against the Spread: Illinois
- Time/TV: 9:00PM ET (BTN)
- KenPom Spread: Iowa (-2)
Heading into this season, few would have believed that a late season matchup between Iowa and Minnesota would have so little on the line. However, with both teams struggling, Tuesday’s game comes with little fanfare.
While there isn’t a reasonable way for me to try and sell this game, it is important to note that Minnesota does still have slim NCAA Tournament hopes. The Gophers are virtually dead, but the team does still have an outside shot. Thus, there is at least something riding on Tuesday’s game.
- Pick Against the Spread: Minnesota
Season Record vs KenPom’s Spread: 12-24-1
