The Buckeyes got some promising news yesterday with the announcement that 6’7” small forward Jaedon LeDee has verbally committed to the program.
LeDee, a Texas native, is a four-star forward from the 2018 recruiting class and is ranked by Rivals as the 79th best recruit in his class. LeDee had offers from a laundry list of marquee programs, including UCLA, Kentucky, California, Texas A&M and plenty of other potential suitors.
LeDee is currently the only 2018 commit for Chris Holtmann. The Buckeyes have dealt with the decommitments of 4-star guard Torrence Watson, 4-star guard Dane Goodwin and 3-star forward Justin Ahrens. Ohio State has also missed out on a number of in-state targets, leaving their 2018 class considerably lacking.
"It just had a combination of everything we were looking for," LeDee had told ESPN. "It was just the right step for my family and I.”
The forward should provide the Buckeyes with a player that is capable of scoring and cleaning up on the glass. Even more important, he adds a recruit to the 2018 class as Holtmann tries to fix a decimated roster that has been left thin after the departure of former coach Thad Matta.
At the very least LeDee is a solid building block for the future for Holtmann and the Buckeyes.
