Only a few months after the Big Ten hosted their annual basketball tournament in Washington, D.C., the conference will again be linked to the Nation’s Capital.

On Thursday, August 10th, the Washington Nationals will host “B1G Ten Night” at Nationals Park in the District of Columbia.

This is another great opportunity for the Big Ten to continue their East Coast shift, especially since the event is for a good cause. The Nationals will be kicking in $2.00 from every ticket sold toward a scholarship fund, with the highest selling alumni group receiving the money.

As of Tuesday night, it looks like the schools are buying in to “B1G Ten Night”. All over Twitter there are alumni groups promoting the event, which is great for the scholarship idea, but also reassuring that droves of Big Ten alumni live in the D.C Metro area.

In terms of handicapping the winner of the scholarship money, you’d expect the Maryland Terrapins to be heavy favorites. After all, their campus is less than an hour from the stadium and by far the closest of any of the Big Ten schools. But, most Maryland folks are Orioles’ fans, so maybe there is an outside chance of an upset. Either way, it’s going to be a great night for the conference and for the best fans in the world—Big Ten fans.

Game-wise, the Nationals will be playing the Miami Marlins. It would have been nice for them to schedule it against a team with Big Ten ties—like the Cubs or Tigers—but you can’t win them all.

First pitch is set for 7:05 P.M ET and as of now, tickets are still available.
