Pat Chambers got some exciting news on Sunday evening as 2018 prospect Rasir Bolton opted to commit to the Penn State Nittany Lions. In what is expected to be a relatively small recruiting class for the program in the 2018 recruiting cycle, this is a big commitment for Penn State.

Bolton comes out of Virginia Beach and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds. He is rated as a three-star and the top player in the state of Virginia by 247Sports. Nationally, Bolton comes in just inside the top 200 players.
Along with his offer from Penn State, Bolton had offers from Cincinnati, East Carolina, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, VCU, and Virginia Tech among others. There’s no debating that it would have been an uphill battle for him to land some of the elite offers, but he had an impressive offer sheet and could have played at a number of Power Five programs.
With his commitment, Penn State now has two members of its 2018 recruiting class. The class is currently rated No. 19 nationally and No. 7 in the Big Ten by 247Sports. Whether those rankings hold up remains to be seen, but this continues Chambers’ recent success on the recruiting trail.
Penn State now only has one scholarship left for its 2018 recruiting class. This will likely change by time the 2018 class reports to campus, but fans should expect this to be a relatively small class that will start initially off the bench.
There’s still a long way to go for Chambers and the Nittany Lions, but the program certainly appears to be trending in the right direction.
