On Sunday evening, Indiana fans got some exciting news as 2018 prospect Race Thompson opted to commit to the Indiana Hoosiers. This is huge news as new head coach Archie Miller hopes to lead the program into the future.

Thompson comes out of Minneapolis, Minnesota and is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 3 player in the state by 247Sports. The site also lists him at 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds. He figures to be a player capable of playing multiple positions at the collegiate level.

Along with Indiana, Thompson received significant interest from several other Big Ten programs. He had offers from Minnesota, Nebraska, and Northwestern among others. There’s little debating that he was one of the midwest’s top 2018 prospects.

Thompson now becomes Indiana’s first 2018 commitment. However, he joins a deep and talented group of wing and frontcourt prospects for the Hoosiers over the last few cycles. With Thompson and prospects like De’Ron Davis, Clifton Moore, and Justin Smith, there’s little doubt that Indiana’s going to have a lot of talent upfront. Whether these prospects develop is unknown, but that has to excite fans.

This is a huge win for Miller on the recruiting front and Hoosier fans will have to hope that it’s a sign of things to come for the program in the months ahead.
