The Minnesota native has reportedly accepted a four-for-five deal in which he’ll technically walk-on his first season before going on scholarship after his first year with the Badgers. Hedstrom accepted the offer even though he had full scholarship offers from a number of schools, including Utah and Boise State.
“Coach Gard thinks the opportunity there is unparalleled with the academics and basketball success,” said Hedstrom. “He thinks it’s a great opportunity. He said, ‘I know I’m a little biased, but I think this is the best option for you. If you come here, work hard, the sky is the limit. That can really set you up for life.’“
Hedstrom joins a 2018 recruiting class that also includes 4-star shooting guard Tyler Herro.
The addition of Hedstrom will add some size to the Badgers frontcourt, with the center proving to be capable around the rim at the high school level.
