Over the weekend, the Buckeyes got some huge news on the recruiting trail. Not only did Ohio State land a commitment, but the program accomplished the rare feat of landing two quality prospects on the same day.
The first of these commitments came from 2018 prospect Darius Bazley. He comes out of Cincinnati, Ohio and is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports. Bazley is also rated as the No. 2 player in the state and had major attention from Cincinnati, Dayton, Purdue, and Xavier as well before committing to Ohio State.

Bazley is the type of player with plenty of athleticism that can play above the rim. Obviously, he still has room to grow as a 2018 recruit, but with that raw skillset and the ability to knock down some mid-range shots, he could make a big impact at the next level.
Additionally, Ohio State also got a commitment from 2018 prospect Justin Ahrens. He comes out of Versailles, Ohio and is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. Notably, he’s also slotted as the No. 4 player in the state of Ohio and the No. 33 small forward in the 2018 recruiting class.

Ahrens also brings a unique skillset that should make him a solid addition to Ohio State in the future. In particular, his pull up jumper and his handle are some of the strongest areas of his game that should help him at next level.
Overall, it was a huge weekend for the Buckeyes. Whether Ohio State can keep up this momentum remains to be seen, but one would think that Thad Matta and his staff enjoyed themselves over the last few days.
