Whether or not it meant anything for either team, Rutgers and Illinois battled it out in Piscataway on Wednesday night. Corey Sanders missed what would've been a game-winning free throw at the end of regulation; the game went to overtime. Illinois took what looked like a solid lead in the extra session, but Rutgers fought back thanks to forced turnovers. Corey Sanders for the Scarlet Knights would miss a three pointer, get his own rebound, and hit a three at the buzzer to force yet another overtime. Both teams fought hard in double OT, but neither was able to pull away; that meant triple overtime. It was in these final five minutes that Illinois was able to pull away and outscore Rutgers 17-8. The Fighting Illini would leave New Jersey with a thrilling 110-101 road win over the Scarlet Knights.
Though this game meant almost nothing for either team, it was certainly fun to watch. Many fans took to Twitter to express their disbelief in the insanity that occurred in Piscataway on Wednesday night. Here are some of the best Tweets of the night.

The OT of this Rutgers/Illinois game is what it must be like to be a guilty defendant waiting for the jury to announce its verdict.— Tom Fornelli (@TomFornelli) February 4, 2016
Someone at Buffalo Wild Wings (likely lonely and depressed) requested OT, so OT it will be.— The Groce Report (@TheGroceReport) February 4, 2016
