11/28 Big Ten Preview: Minnesota vs Florida State

Preview the Big Ten’s matchups for Monday, including a key game between Minnesota and Florida State.

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Minnesota Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Last weekend was a hectic one for fans as the regular season concluded on the football field and the basketball season continued in full force. However, the nation’s eyes will turn to the hardwood this week as the annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge begins on Monday night with two relatively intriguing games.

You can preview all the games below. All spreads are based on KenPom.

Big Ten Game of the Day:

-Minnesota at Florida State

  • Time/TV: 7:00PM ET - ESPNU
  • KenPom Spread: Florida State (-7)

Perhaps no team in the Big Ten has gotten off to a better start this season than Minnesota. The team has rebounded really well off a terrible 2015-’16 season and has started the year at 6-0, with three of those wins coming against top 100 competition.

But things will get more difficult on Monday night as Minnesota goes on the road for the first time this season and does it against a quality opponent. Florida State is 5-1 on the year and very well could be the toughest team Minnesota has faced to date. As such, this is a great opportunity for Minnesota to truly prove how far its come since last season.

The matchup to watch will be on the wing where Minnesota will have to try and slow down Dwayne Bacon and Jonathan Isaac, who are both having stellar seasons and are great outside shooters. This will be a great test for Amir Coffey and Jordan Murphy and should tell a lot about a young Gopher wing group.

  • Pick Against The Spread: Minnesota

The Rest:

-Wake Forest at Northwestern

  • Time/TV: 9:00PM ET - ESPNU
  • KenPom Spread: Northwestern (-5)

The Wildcats are off to a nice 4-2 start to the season with no bad losses, but are still looking to add some quality wins to the resume. Monday will be a great opportunity to do just that against Wake Forest at home. Northwestern should be favored, but it will have to find a way to slow down John Collins, who has put up really impressive numbers on the boards this season.

  • Pick Against The Spread: Northwestern
