On Thursday, news leaked that 2017 prospect Kris Wilkes had narrowed his list to three schools and the Big Ten was fortunate enough to make the cut. In total, Illinois and Indiana were all listed by the small forward.
Along with the two Big Ten schools, Wilkes listed UCLA.
Currently, there does not appear to be a clear favorite, but UCLA holds the most the most Crystal Ball selections on 247Sports. However, some members of the media are speculating that Indiana could hold an inside track to land Wilkes.
I can confirm that Kris Wilkes has cancelled visits to UCONN and Xavier and is down to Indiana, Illinois and UCLA. IU the heavy favorite.

Of course, as mentioned, Wilkes is one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2017 class. In fact, Wilkes is rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 15 prospect in the nation by 247Sports. He’s listed as a small forward, but his 6-foot-7 size should allow him to move to several spots in the lineup.
Generally speaking, Wilkes would be a pretty huge addition for any of the Big Ten schools that made the cut. However, one school that looks like it could be great fit is Illinois, considering the prospects that John Groce has already landed for the program’s 2017 class.
Where Wilkes ultimately lands is still up for debate, but as things currently sit, it looks like two Big Ten schools are still in contention. If one can actually reel in the massively recruited small forward, it could mean huge things for the future.
