The recruitment offers continued to flow this week. A total of 13 offers were extended plus one major committment from 2016 4-Star Point Guard Tony Carr. The headline prospect this week is 2016 3-Star Point Guard Tyson Carter from Starkville High School (MS). He was targeted by three Big Ten schools this week in Ohio State on July 30 and Illinois and Indiana on August 3.

The verbal committment from Carr jumped Penn State 14 spots to #7 in the 2016 Team Rankings per 247/Sports. In addition to Carr, the Nittany Lions have landed 3-Stars Nazeer Bostick (Small Forward) and Joe Hampton (Power Forward). Coach Pat Chambers still has two more scholarships available with 20 open offers on the board.

Label this week of recruitment activity "Point Guard City" as six prospects: Carter, Carr, Troy Brown, Courtney Raney, Aaron Thompson, and Xavier Simpson have been receiving all the love from Big Ten schools.

2016 3-Star PG Tyson Carter 6-4/170

His father Greg Carter played basketball for Mississippi State and is his high school coach at Starkville (MS). He is ranked #2 in the state per 247/Sports and has received 12 offers, including Mississippi State, Memphis, Rhode Island, Iowa State, and Murray State.

Last season, he guided Starkville to a Class 6A state championship where he averaged 17 points, three rebounds, and five assists per game. No doubt, he was the team's engine at point guard. He plays AAU ball for Da House on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit.

The skinny on Carter is that he is a versatile player capable of the point or shooting guard positions. He has great floor vision, a high basketball IQ, and can score anywhere on the floor. He has a deft touch on floaters down the lane. His ball-handling skills are excellent with the ability to change pace. He needs to develop upper body strength. Check out Carter's mixtape:
