Penn State Nittany Lions To Face Colorado Buffaloes In 2015 Las Vegas Classic

The Nittany Lions secure an intriguing non-conference battle for next season.

The Nittany Lions have added an intriguing opponents to their non-conference schedule for the upcoming season in the Colorado Buffaloes.  The news came in a press release from Penn State and details that the two teams will play in the 2015 Las Vegas Classic in the first matchup in Vegas.  It's certainly not the biggest matchup, but should offer an interesting matchup between two teams that could have some solid talent next season.

The matchup will take place on Tuesday, December 22nd and will be the final game of the day for the event.  The winner of the game will move on and face the winner of Kent State and SMU.  If the Nittany Lions can score a win, it should be two big non-conference matchups for the program in the event.

Though neither program experienced a ton of success in recent years, both have had some success and Colorado was able to put together three NCAA Tournament appearances in a row from 2012 through 2014.  The Nittany Lions have yet to make the NCAA Tournament with head coach Patrick Chambers, but did put together a 12-1 record in non-conference play last season.

Neither program is expected to compete for their respective conference championships, but both should be in play to put together some solid rosters and make some noise as the season progresses.  Perhaps fans will see if one of the two teams will be trending up next season in the early season matchup.
