In a recent press release, Purdue has officially announced its 2015-16 non-conference schedule. The Boilermakers have faced several marquee teams in recent years including the Missouri Tigers and the North Carolina State Wolfpack and look to add to those top matchups this week.
Though Purdue's lacks many major matchups at home, there are plenty of games on neutral courts and on the road that should get fans excited and plenty of decent enough opponents at home. The non-conference schedule will likely be highlighted by a road trip to Pittsburgh during the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Here is the full non-conference schedule.
2015-16 Purdue Non-Conference Schedule:
- Nov. 8 -- Northwestern Ohio
- Nov. 13 -- North Carolina A&T
- Nov. 15 -- Vermont
- Nov. 18 -- Incarnate Word
- Nov. 21 -- vs. Old Dominion (Uncasville, Conn.)
- Nov. 22 -- vs. Florida/Saint Joseph's (Uncasville, Conn.)
- Nov. 28 -- Lehigh
- Dec. 1 -- at Pittsburgh
- Dec. 5 -- New Mexico
- Dec. 7 -- IUPUI
- Dec. 9 -- Howard
- Dec. 12 -- Youngstown State
- Dec. 19 -- vs. Butler (Indianapolis, IN.)
- Dec. 22 -- Vanderbilt
Not only will Purdue get matchups with Butler and Pittsburgh away from home, but the team will also get intriguing matchups against New Mexico and Vanderbilt and a potential matchup with Florida. Each one of those games has interesting storylines and should have quality teams on both sides.
The Boilermakers bring back a loaded team in 2015-16 highlighted by returning senior AJ Hammons and will look to make their mark in non-conference play. There are plenty of opportunities to get resume building victories here and Purdue could get off to a great start to the season.
