According to Youngstown State's official website, the Penguins will travel to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines next season in mid-December. The Wolverines are set to have a challenging non-conference slate during the 2015-16 season and this should represent an intriguing home game.
The matchup will occur on December 19th at Crisler Center. The Penguins are coming off an 11-21 overall record last season and went 2-14 in the Horizon League. They are not expected to be a national contender, but do have some intriguing players. Michigan and Youngstown State last played on November 22, 2006 when Michigan beat Youngstown State by a final score of 65-56.
The Wolverines failed to make the postseason in 2014-15 with an underwhelming 16-16 record, but battled significant injuries including season-ending injuries to star guards Caris LeVert and Derrick Walton, Jr. The Wolverines showed promise at the end of the season including wins over Illinois and Ohio State. Michigan will return virtually the entire roster from last season and are expected to be ranked in the Top 25 nationally.
This should be an interesting non-conference battle between Michigan and Youngstown State and given the Wolverines struggles at home last year during the early portion of the season, could be a game for fans to keep an eye on.
