Indiana Hoosiers Suspend Devin Davis Following Marijuana Citation

Sophomore forward Devin Davis has been suspended by Indiana following a marijuana citation.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday afternoon, the Indiana athletic department officially announced the suspension of sophomore forward Devin Davis. This suspension comes after Davis was cited for possession of marijuana by the Indiana University Police Department. Indiana's Athletic Department released the following statement:

"We have been made aware that Indiana sophomore Devin Davis was cited by IUPD for possession of marijuana in an IU dormitory room last evening. Effective immediately, Davis has been suspended from all team activities. Any additional action related to Davis’ status will occur after further review of this matter. We understand that junior Hanner Mosquera-Perea was present at the time of the incident but was not charged by IUPD. Mosquera-Perea’s role, if any, will also be reviewed as part of this matter."

Davis missed all of last season for Indiana following a head injury as the result of a car accident in early November of 2014. During his freshman season, he played in 19.8% of the team's minutes and had an offensive rating of 98.3 over the course of the season. He scored a season high of 10 points against Chicago State.

Mosquerea-Perea is a junior forward that played 37.0% of the team's minutes last season including 19 points in the team's NCAA Tournament game against Wichita State. He was considered to be one of the team's better frontcourt players.
