Following the NIT's selection show on Sunday night, it was learned that three teams from the Big Ten that appeared to be in serious consideration for bids were not selected. These teams were Michigan, Minnesota, and Penn State. Though Michigan and Penn State were considered bubble NIT teams at best, the Wolverines appeared to still be on the right side of things toward the end of Sunday.
However, the surprising team is Minnesota, who appeared to not only be in the field, but a decently seeded team in most NIT bracketology posts. However, they did not make the cut and will have to look to make their mark next season. The Gophers won the 2014 NIT.
