As the season creeps closer, fans are starting to get more announcemtns about the opening weeks of the season and some updates out of practice.  One of the most exciting things for the fanbase is seeing the team in person before the team actually takes the court for a game.  For Northwestern fans, they will be getting an exciting opportunity.

The Wildcats will be hosting an open scrimmage in the mid-October, which should allow fans to not only see the team in person, but will also let them check out one of the most exciting freshmen classes in Northwestern history.  With more expectations than some are used to in the fanbase, this could be even more exciting than normal.

Here is the full release from Northwestern:

For the second straight year, head coach Chris Collins and the Northwestern men's basketball program will open the doors to Welsh-Ryan Arena to the public for an open scrimmage Saturday, Oct. 18.

Northwestern will take the court for warmups beginning at 2:30 p.m. The 'Cats will compete in a scrimmage and participate in on-court activities with fans. Those in attendance can also sign up for giveaways. Coach Collins will conclude the festivities by addressing the fans.

Account executives will be on hand to help prospective season ticket holders select their seats.

The festivities will wrap up at 4 p.m., in time for fans to make their way to Walker Way to welcome the Northwestern football team as it arrives at Ryan Field in preparation for the squad's contest against Nebraska at 6:30 p.m.
