Sunday B1G Recap - Minnesota Wins, Illinois Falls

Only two games were played amongst B1G teams on Sunday. Illinois lost to Clemson while Minnesota beat St. Mary's.

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the breakdowns of Sunday's game action:

Illinois 49 Clemson 50

Rayvonte Rice's 15 points and 4 steals weren't enough to beat the Tigers on the road. Illinois shot 3 of 21 from three while Clemson shot almost 50% from the field. The turnover battle kept the Fighting Illini in the game as they only had six turnovers compared to Clemson's 14. With all this being said, Illinois hoisted a long three to win the game, but it came up short. Illinois' 2013-2014 season is ended with a 20-15 record.

St. Mary's 55 Minnesota 63

Minnesota used a huge second half to beat the Gaels by eight. The Hollins family struggled from the field shooting just 3 for 13 and totaling only 15 points. Minnesota was led by Joey King's 18 point effort and Elliot Elliason's two points, eight rebounds, and seven blocks. Amazingly, Elliason had a very productive game while not attempting one shot from the field. St. Mary's was a one-man show as Stephen Holt was the only Gaels' player that was in double digits. Holt ended with 24 points with nine of them coming from the charity stripe.

What's Next for the B1G?

Four B1G teams have advanced further into their postseason tournaments. Michigan will face the winner of Mercer/Tennessee on Friday. Michigan State knows they'll be playing the winner of the UVA/Memphis game and will also be playing this game on Friday. Wisconsin plays the winner of Baylor/Creighton on Thursday. Those three teams will be playing for a chance at participating in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.  Lastly, Minnesota advances further into the NIT and will play the winner of Southern Miss/Missouri on Tuesday.
