MSU Beats Delaware - Adreian Payne Scores 41

Payne, Michigan State Beat Delaware 93-78.

Payne just had one of the single greatest games by an individual ever for Michigan State. It couldn't have come at a better time, the opening game for the Spartans

Payne finished the game with 41 points and 8 rebounds. He was 10 for 15 from the field, 4 for 5 from 3, and  17 for 17 from the free throw line, a tournament-record. He broke a tournament record for points by a Spartan, beating Greg Kelser's performance in 1979. Payne also drew 12 fouls in the game. If he continues at this pace, the Spartans will be very hard to beat, and Payne will be picking himself up an MVP. He was undoubtedly the MVP tonight.

Another big performance for the Spartans was from Travis Trice, who knocked in 19 points on 7 for 8 shooting. Brandon Dawson almost picked up a double-double, with 10 points 8 rebounds.

Devan Saddler had 21 points and Davon Usher added 20 for Delaware. This was the Fightin Blue Hens first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999.

Michigan State will take on 12th seeded Harvard, who beat Cincinnati today 61-57, on Saturday.

Obama, your team is still alive.
