Last week was an exciting one for the conference. We got some huge wins (Michigan vs. Wisconsin), some close battles (Penn State vs. Purdue), and some great upsets (Ohio State vs. Nebraska). It will be a challenging week for the conference to top, but we have some good ones lined up this week:
Game Of The Week:
Michigan at Michigan State: This is the second week in a row that Michigan was a team selected for Big Ten Game of the Week, but this game is about much more than the Wolverines. Currently, both teams are undefeated in conference play and ranked. Michigan has beaten teams like Minnesota and Wisconsin and MSU has beaten teams like Indiana and Ohio State. Even if one or both of these teams lose during the week (Michigan gets Iowa and MSU gets Indiana), this game will be for 1st place in the Big Ten. Plus, if both teams win their weekday games, this could be one of the most hyped games of the Big Ten season, especially considering that College Gameday will be in East Lansing. Finally, add in that this is a rivalry game that has split 2-2 over the last two seasons and you have the makings of a great game.
Honorable Mention:
Iowa at Michigan: Though Michigan and MSU are in the lead in the Big Ten, Iowa is lurking just one game behind and have the ability to make up some major ground with a win over Michigan on Wednesday. Both teams are ranked and on winning streaks. The fact that this game is on BTN is astounding. It has actually be rated as one of the most watchable games of the season according to KenPom.
Wisconsin at Minnesota: Though neither team has been perfect this season, this is still an exciting rivalry that should be even better with improved play of both teams. The Golden Gophers have only lost one game at home this season and will be hungry for another upset on their home court (beat OSU). This is also an important game because Wisconsin is starting to fade in the conference title race. This is a must win for the Badgers.
