Indiana's vacant 2014 recruiting class had to land someone sooner or later and they did this past weekend when Robert Johnson decided to commit to the Hoosiers over Virginia, North Carolina and Florida State.
Indiana Lands Top 50 SG Robert Johnson
The announcement that Johnson had committed to Indiana was definitely welcoming news to the fan base and created some positivity around Indiana's recent recruiting efforts. After the decommitment of James Blackmon Jr. and the Hoosiers missing out on a handful of targets, there was some fans feeling a bit unsettled by the teams inability to quickly build their 2014 class.
Well now that Robert Johnson has decided on Indiana the feeling surrounding Indiana's recruiting has done a quick 180 and has the fan base excited once again. Johnson is a top 50 player according to pretty much whatever recruiting service you use and was a highly sought after recruit. Johnson will likely be utilized as a combo guard and help back up Yogi Ferrell at the point.
Now with Johnson set to join the Hoosiers in 2014, he has commented that he will be making a push to try to get five star Devin Robinson to join him. If Johnson can make it work, that'd be an even bigger get for the Hoosiers.
James Blackmon Jr. to visit Michigan this weekend
Blackmon originally had committed to the Hoosiers but now that he's back on the market he'll be making a number of official visits as he decides where to play ball in 2014. The Wolverines have been making a big push for him and it seems like Blackmon has liked what he's seen. Now the five star recruit will be taking an official visit to Michigan this weekend. The visit to Ann Arbor will be Blackmon's first official, likely to be followed by officials to Indiana, Kentucky and Kansas. Blackmon unofficially visited the Wolverines back in August and also made unofficial visits to Michigan State, Kentucky, Louisville and Indiana since he reopened his recruitment.
