In his last outing, Luke Fischer posted his career high in scoring, 10 points, against Kennesaw State in Indiana's most recent game.
Today, he announced that he would be transferring from Indiana. The 6'11" freshman from Germantown, WI had only just recently recovered from a shoulder injury, and looked capable of making an impact in the front court for the Hoosiers for the remainder of the season. Fischer had only played 10 minutes per game to this point, averaging 2.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in that time. Fischer figured to play more in conference play, as his playing time was hampered early on by the aforementioned injury.
Luke will certainly be missed on the court. Though young, Luke showed better understanding of defensive positioning than sophomore forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea, who is likely to play behind Noah Vonleh in Fischer's stead. Rumor has it that Fischer was simply homesick, which would absolve the Hoosiers of fault but won't make Tom Crean or Indiana feel any better when Vonleh encounters foul trouble.
