The Cliff Alexander recruitment has been a circus, with every possible twist and turn taking place throughout the process. Alexander is a five star power forward out of Illinois and Rivals ranks him as the fourth best recruit in the nation. Simply put, Alexander is in contention to be the best 2014 prospect and has been nonstop hyped throughout the entire process.
At the end of the day, Alexander narrowed his possible decisions down to Kansas, Illinois, Memphis and DePaul. Michigan State made the top five but was recently dropped from his list. Kansas seemed like the favorite heading in, but both Illinois and DePaul had location to their advantage while Memphis managed to stay in contention for Alexander.
When all was said and done, though, Cliff Alexander decided to commit to...
Illin...Kansas.
Yes, highly touted Cliff Alexander was set to announce his decision. He reached out, first lifting up the Illinois hat, only to end up grabbing the Kansas hat. Only fitting that Alexander's crazy recruitment would end up with a vicious fake out to an Illinois team already reeling on the decision made by Snider to head elsewhere.
Also, for what it's worth, Twitter proved to be great fun throughout this entire ordeal. In a period of about twenty minutes we saw beat writers and recruiting guys claim they had "inside sources" confirming Alexander has committed to Illinois, Kansas and even Memphis.
When all was said and done, though, Alexander is officially going to be a Jayhawk.
