Minnesota Adds JUCO Transfer to 2014 Class

He may be known as "Squirrel," but Carlos Morris is now set to become a Gopher.

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

Minnesota recently added their second 2014 commit this past weekend and Richard Pitino isn't slowing down anytime soon as the Gophers have now added Carlos Morris to their 2014 recruiting class.

Graduating from high school in 2012, Morris was a three star shooting guard that 247 Sports ranked as the 131st best player and 31st best shooting guard in class. Morris had committed to South Carolina but ended up having to take the JUCO route, landing at Chipola Community College. Besides Minnesota, Morris also held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, DePaul and UAB among others.

The 6'4 shooting guard visited Minnesota about a month ago and just made a visit to UAB this past weekend. Shortly after his most recent visit Morris decided to announce his commitment to Minnesota. Morris will join Nate Mason as the second guard in Pitino's 2014 class. Morris will look to utilize his quickness to adapt to Pitino's uptempo style and will look to help fill a Minnesota backcourt that could be pretty depleted heading into next season.

Also, his nickname is apparently "squirrel." One has to wonder how easy the transition from squirrel to gopher will be for the Florida native. Highlights below:
