University of Minnesota basketball standout Forward Trevor Mbakwewas arrested Monday for violating a restraining order. Mbakwe was booked into the Ramsey County jail and remains there Monday night. The violation was apparently related to a facebook post rather than a physical confrontation.
Mbakwe a 6'8 Forward is considered to be the best player on the Golden Gopher roster. Averaging 13 points a game Mbakwe has been an offensive catalyst throughout the season controlling the paint and glass to the tune of 10 rebounds a game. This is not his first run-in with the law. He was not allowed to play last year while an assault case in Miami was being resolved.
At the time of this release there was limited information available on the future of Mbakwe, but it seems unlikely that he will be a part of this Thursday's matchup against Purdue.
It's been a rough week for Minnesota basketball fans who have seen Devoe Joseph transfer to Oregon and now Mbakwe arrested. For a team that had Big Ten title hopes the following week will play a large part in the remainder of the season.
