2014 NBA Draft: Glenn Robinson III Top 5 Landing Spots

Andy Lyons

Which teams would be the best fit for Glenn Robinson III?

Glenn Robinson III has been working out for several NBA teams during his pre-draft preparations. What five teams would be the best landing spot for the dynamic forward?

1. Phoenix Suns: This would be the best place for GRIII to land. The up and down nature of the Suns' offensive philosophy would highlight Robinson's athleticism. Just look at how Gerald Green has revitalized his journeyman career in Phoenix. With starting small forward PJ Tucker going into restricted free agency, there's a good chance Phoenix will have a hole to fill. With three first round picks (14, 18, and 27), Glenn Robinson should be available at all of those picks and would be a player of good value at 27.

2.  Los Angeles Clippers: At Michigan, GRIII was at his best in the open court, using his great vertical leap and ability to finish around the rim. Imagine how fun it would be to watch him running with CP3! Lob City's newest resident would fit in just fine. With Robinson's improved outside shooting, he could step in and contribute immediately. Current starting small forward Matt Barnes is a 34 year old unrestricted free agent and lack of production from the small forward position was a problem all year for LAC.

3. Chicago Bulls: The Bulls are another team with lack of punch at small forward. Mike Dunleavy has seen better days. Tony Snell hasn't proved to Tom Thibodeau he can contribute consistently in Thibodeau's complicated system. Plus, Thibodeau has a quick trigger trading players who can't grasp the system- just ask Marquis Teague. A healthyDerrick Rose (hopefully) would push the tempo in Chicago.  GRIII would fit in just fine.

4. Dallas Mavericks: If GRIII falls into the second round, Dallas would be a logical fit. The Mavericks consistently trot out 2002 All-Star game competitors Vince Carter and Shawn Marion at small forward- needless to say, they need to get younger on the wings. After drafting Shane Larkin last year, GRIII would help spur that youth movement. Dallas needs to surround the aging but still effective Dirk Nowitzki with youth and energy.

5. San Antonio Spurs: While Kawhi Leonard is a budding star after last years finals and key players like Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, and Tony Parker are all under contract, the Spurs would still be a good place for Robinson to land. Gregg Popovich finds ways to get the most of marginal talent like Danny Green and Patty Mills. A player with potential like Robinson could both flourish in the role Popovich finds for him, while developing skills to improve his NBA game.
