One of the top matchups of the year. - Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Now that we are in the final week of the regular season, let's take a look at what teams were in the spotlight the most.

The Big Ten is in its final week of the regular season. We have selected a Big Ten Game of the Week for the majority of the season and with conference play wrapping up, it seemed like a good time to look at which teams and games received the most attention. Let's take a look at the general stats:

Thoughts

There aren't a ton of surprises here, but there are some interesting tidbits. First, obviously this type of list favors the teams that have been good. If you were in the conference title race, even only for a few weeks, you at least got a matchup or two on this list. The overall leaders were widely regarded as the conference favorites and it's not surprising to see matchups like Iowa vs. Michigan, Michigan vs. MSU, and Michigan vs. Wisconsin all receive the double treatment.

The other thing that admittedly was pretty surprising was to see how much attention Wisconsin got. I think a big part of this was the fact that they only received 1 Game of the Week honor, but 8(!!!) honorable mentions. Honestly, getting the Game of the Week is more about luck. You have to draw a week where you face a big team and other teams do not. However, getting that many honorable mentions shows that Wisconsin has been a player all year and pretty relevant. Michigan probably was the biggest winner considering they had the most Game of the Week selections and were 2nd in overall picks, but Wisconsin certainly is 2nd with so many honorable mentions.

(Final note: Please remember that this post was not done for the entire season. Considering this, some of these numbers may be a tad skewed.)
