So Your Team Drafted Iowa's Roy Devyn Marble?

Devyn Marble gradually improved his game during a 4-year collegiate career, but what should the team that drafts him expect to get?

Continue

BREAKING: Orlando Magic Select Roy Devyn Marble

Iowa finally has a player pulled off the board as the Orlando Magic selected Roy Devyn Marble.  Marble really stepped up last season for the Hawkeyes and showed a diverse skillset with not only his passing, but also his ability to get to the hoop, shoot, and defend.  He has some fantastic games last season and he could be an interesting depth piece for a team in the future.  He will join a talented backcourt in Orlando, but could be a useful bench piece for the team if they decide to keep him around.

BREAKING: Minnesota Selects Glenn Robinson III

Another Wolverine comes off the board as Glenn Robinson III has been selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves.  GR3 offers an incredible amount of athleticism to any team and also could provide a boost in defense, rebounding, and the ability to make plays in transition.  How much GR3 can contribute early is definitely still up in the air, but if he progresses well, he could turn into a big time player in the pros.  GR3 will have to battle for time at Minnesota, but he could make an impact down the line depending on what happens with the Kevin Love situation.

BREAKING: Oklahoma City Selects Mitch McGary

Another Wolverine comes off the board as Mitch McGary is drafted by Oklahoma City.  McGary did not necessarily have a long career in Ann Arbor despite being there for two years, but he offers a great deal of athleticism, shot blocking ability, and incredible energy on the floor.  McGary might take a bit to make an impact, but he could turn into a real nice bench piece and perhaps a starter as time goes on.  OKC has some frontcourt potential, but they have struggled with inconsistent play upfront and McGary could turn into a big time asset off the bench and potentially in the starting lineup.

BREAKING: Gary Harris Selected #19 By Nuggets

The second Spartan if off the board tonight as MSU's Gary Harris has been drafted by the Denver Nuggets.  Harris played 2 years in East Lansing and  should offer an instant boost to the the Nuggets with his shooting, defense, and athleticism.  The Bulls traded for McDermott earlier so this pick went to the Nuggets.

So Your Team Drafted Adreian Payne?

You just made a very smart decision!

Continue

BREAKING: Atlanta Hawks Select Adreian Payne

Michigan State gets their first player off the board with Adreian Payne.  Payne was selected #15 by the Atlanta Hawks.  The Hawks have a strong frontcourt, but Payne could provide a great boost off the bench and could even improve more as time goes on.  He has a great deal of athleticism, can rebound, play in the low post, and can shoot.  Payne will likely be limited in his first year, but he could be big down the road.

So Your Team Just Drafted Noah Vonleh

So your team just drafted former Hoosier Noah Vonleh.... What can you expect from the former IU freshman phenom?

Continue

BREAKING: Noah Vonleh Selected #9 By Hornets

Big news, as Indiana's Noah Vonleh is selected by the Charlotte Hornets and becomes the first Hoosier selected in the 2014 NBA Draft.  Vonleh has a lot to offer a team with his size, athleticism, and length.  He is still a bit raw, but with his youth and high ceiling, he could turn into a big time contributor in the future.  He should have at least one friendly player in the frontcourt with former Hoosier Cody Zeller playing alongside him.

Nik Stauskus Top Ten Pick?

What are you getting with this year's Big Ten POY?

Continue

BREAKING: Nik Stauskas Selected #8 By The Kings

The Big Ten player is off the board with Sacramento Kings selecting Nik Stauskas.  Stauskas played 2 years in Ann Arbor and was the Big Ten Player of the Year last season.  He should be an instant scoring boost with his impressive shooting, good handle, and surprisingly good passing skills.  The Kings are still in a rebuilding mode in a deep Western Conference, but they do need shooting and Stauskas should provide an instant boost there.  Stauskas is the 3rd Michigan player selected in the 1st Round of the last 2 seasons.

Mitch McGary NBA Workout Update

There have been mixed reports for weeks regarding Mitch McGary's health and draft status.  Well, the Detroit Free Press has released an update on Mitch McGary's draft status.  Here are the McGary related segments:

"When McGary met with the Free Press a month ago, he said he was improving but did not participate in the NBA combine. He also said he was still working into playing shape.

Just a few weeks ago one of his agency workouts was posted on an Internet site and he was shown moving well, attacking the basket and shooting from the outside.

But without an NBA workout, teams are unsure about his health. When healthy, he has a versatile enough skill set at 6-foot-10 to rebound be able rebound aggressively, pass the ball, dribble up court and finish at the basket, skills rare in a player that size.

The website basketballinsiders.com reported late last week that some NBA executives felt McGary was being held out of workouts because a team had already made him a promise to pick him in the 20s.

Bartelstein [McGary's agent] said he would not comment on rumors but insisted McGary is moving forward."

McGary may be the most unusual and unpredictable prospects in this year's NBA Draft as he could go anywhere from the mid 1st Round to mid 2nd Round.  Until Draft night, expect the rumors to continue.

Big news for the Boilermakers today as one of the last NBA decisions came to an end.  Purdue sophomore AJ Hammons will be returning to Purdue for his junior year next season.  The Boilermakers finished 12th in the conference last season and failed to make the postseason, but Hammons should provide a big boost for a team struggling to find an identity.

Here is what Hammons had to say via CBS:

"I've decided to stay and continue my education here at Purdue, and there are a lot of goals I still want to accomplish with my teammates on the court," Hammons said in a statement. "First and foremost, we want to get back to the postseason and compete for a Big Ten title. I feel like we owe our fans some better basketball. Purdue is a special place with a lot of great people and I'm excited to continue my education here and be a part of a great community."
