It was a fine start to the first half for the previously struggling Iowa Hawkeyes.
An 8-0 run out of the gate helped the Hawkeyes look like their old selves, looking to be as potent as ever. The lead grew to as large as 16-4 after a Josh Oglesby three-pointer.
But, Tennessee has since regained control and pushed ahead with a 12-4 run to end the first 20 minute period. As we stand, it's a 29-26 lead for the Hawkeyes over the Tennessee Volunteers in the final game of The First Four.
The Vols' run to end the half was pushed into the forefront by Jeronne Maymon who scored five points in the final four minutes of the half. Maymon finished with seven points, tying with fellow teammate Jarnell Stokes. Jordan McRae currently leads the Vols in scoring with eight points of his own.
For Iowa, it was a strong, efficient period and while it bogged down in the final four minutes, the team is still shooting over 50 percent from the field (52.2%). They have gotten a spirited effort from their bench who have combined for 19 of the Hawkeyes' 29 points in the first half. Guard Peter Jok leads the way for Iowa with five points.
Enjoy the 2nd Half!
